All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. Acts 4:32
Lebanon First has several ways that we can be in ministry through our material collections:
The Midwest Mission Distribution Center, Chatham, IL, is a depot affiliated with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). The MMDC collects disaster relief materials to send to survivors of floods, fires, tornadoes, earthquakes and hurricanes around the United States and around the world. Most of the supplies are organized and sent in the form of “kits.” A large collection area in the Fellowship Hall has bins designated to collect items for health kits, layettes, sewing kits and cleaning buckets. There are brochures with all the details of the items needed.
Swansea Post 2007 is collecting food contributions to send to our troops in Afghanistan. This is a partial list, provided by Chaplain Williams, for donations. Most items are snacks or items which are not available there:
Beef jerky, Pringles, nuts, chips, snacks, spices, hot sauce, ranch salad dressing, hard candy, Crystal Lite drink packets; Zip lock bags, travel size toothpaste, travel toiletries, white crew socks.
The collection box is in Fellowship Hall. Thank you to Janet Eckert for her service.
All Scripture, unless otherwise noted, is taken from the New International Version (NIV).
